Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Report, investigate, complete subrogation, and verify payouts for property and liability accidents. Utilize insurance company as needed.
- In conjunction with applicable managers; CSA reporting and validation of report/numbers and corporate communication.
- Maintain relationship and first point of contact for property and liability insurance carriers for both employee drivers and independent contractors.
- Maintain corporate Liability, Property, and Worker’s Compensation Insurance Policies.
- First point of contact for all worker’s compensation claims for both drivers and non-drivers.
- Complete OSHA requirements including but not limiting; annual filing, reporting, providing training material, and ensuring Terminal Managers are comfortable with OSHA requirements in a workplace.
- Ensure all warehouse and shop associates are compliant with training including but not limited to OSHA, safety, or relatable areas of compliance.
- Create and communicate the accident management protocol for area and local managers; for drivers and non drivers.
- Perform accident investigation when applicable.
- Review driver and nondriver accident file content for accuracy and documents needed.
- Gatekeeper for nondriver accident preventable decisions.
- Assure proper accountability is delivered for nondriver preventable accidents.
- Provide a comprehensive & accurate monthly report containing appropriate metrics.
- Develop, create and maintain ownership of nondriver safety scorecards.
- Ensure compliance of warehouse assets, including but not limited to forklift, scissor lift, with all required documentation are up-to-date and remain up to date for audits, OSHA, etc.
- Responsible for compliance with MSDS OSHA requirements, including but not limited to MSDS binder at all required locations, creating a centralized database for future reference.
- Maintain corporate contracts for Logistics, Owner Operator, and Lease Purchase agreements.
- Ownership of event coordination, with assistance from appliable departments, to include but not limited to driver recognition and annual banquet.
- Quarterly and annually assemble information from all departments, when applicable, for the Quarterly Associate meetings and Annual Vision meetings; compile together and present of material.
- Assist with claims and subrogation.
- Overnight/weekend on call responsibility to assist the 24/7 department as needed for accident, risk and legal issues of serious magnitude.
- Continuous internal audits to remain prepared for external audits, coordinating with all necessary departments and managers to ensure compliance standards are continually met.
- Recommend continuous improvements to support the safety-focused work culture and proactive mindset to reduce the risk of future risk liability.
- Other safety duties as assigned.
Necessary Experience & Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) or qualified experience: required.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field: required.
- 10+ years of transportation management and/or safety management; required.
- 3+ years with litigation and claims; required.
- 5+ years of leading a team of risk/safety associates; required.
- AS400 experience; preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; required.
- Ability to use proprietary software.
- Utilize risk, safety, and transportation software; required.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
