Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and review warehouse processes related to shipping. Implement appropriate procedures/controls to ensure orders are properly scanned, labeled, and shipped according to company guidelines.
  • Inventory control at all warehouse/terminals. Implement all policies and procedures to ensure accuracy at all times.
  • Continually evaluate, develop, and implement procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and guidelines for warehouse management including but not limited to receiving, handling, storing, shipping, salvaging, inventory, safety, etc. while coordinating with other departments when needed.
  • Monitor and audit operating expenses for each warehouse’s performance against budget; including but not limited to personnel hours, revenue, and costs for all warehouses/terminals.
  • Uphold food grade sanitation in accordance with food and safety compliance and regulations in all warehouses and maintain the sanitation SOP’s, procedures, documentation, etc. ensuring all policies, procedures and practices are up-to-date and implemented to ensure accountability.
  • Review purchasing and asset tracking.
  • Ensure customer service inquiries are responded to within a timely manner.
  • Monitor, review, and coordinate with warehouse safety team to ensure all safety practices are being met and followed in accordance with government compliance and regulations. Accountability must be held to terminal/warehouse managers.
  • Responsible for all warehouse OSHA and FDA compliance, audits, and complaints.
  • Visit each warehouse/terminal at a minimum of four times a year, averaging each warehouse/terminal is visited once per quarter.
  • Monitor, audit, and review to ensure that all orders are shipped according to our company policies or contractual obligations at all warehouses/terminals.
  • Plan and allocate resources from warehouse/terminal management level including succession planning of warehouse/terminal managers.
  • Monitor, review, and approve terminal/warehouse managers time, PTO, unplanned time off, etc. ensuring their teams remain supported while out.
  • Responsible for performance counseling conversations, write-ups with warehouse managers including but not limited to safety, policy, procedures, and attendance violations.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop management; including but not limited to training newly hired warehouse managers and retraining current management, ensuring cross-training in all areas.
  • Confer with department heads to coordinate safety and warehouse training, updates, needs, etc.
  • Advise sales and billing departments of any additional charges, reasons for increases on rates, etc.
  • Work with Human Resources to recruit, interview, select hire, and employ appropriately along with reviews and compensation compliance.
  • Consistent communication with all warehouse/terminal managers to ensure policy, practices, and procedures are unified across all warehouse locations and to ensure managers have the information they need.
  • Takes an active role in new projects and processes; drives the communication to warehouse managers.
  • Responsible to maintain accurate inventories for all areas and customers within the warehouses.
  • Inspect physical conditions of all warehouses and all equipment, order testing, maintenance, repair, or replacement, and communicate with building managers.
  • Promote and drive a culture of mutual respect, accountability, and safety across all areas of the organization.
  • Involved in preparing and managing departmental budgets.
  • Attend all director meetings and communicate to warehouse management team’s summary of meetings.
  • Attend conferences and seminars including but not limited to food safety, sanitation, and shipping and receiving.
  • Responsible to remain up to date on food safety and sanitation, shipping and receiving compliance and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Necessary Experience & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; required.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree (Logistics, Business Management, or related field) or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of Warehouse industry or relatable experience; required.
  • 4+ years of leadership; required.
  • 2+ year of forklift experience; required.
  • Microsoft Office Suite; required.
  • Warehouse Management System experience; a plus.
  • AS400 experience; a plus.
  • Strong emphasis on Safety, OSHA, GMPs, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people internally and externally.
  • Exceptional organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Strong attention to details, record keeping, organization, and follow up.
  • Department, management, and team orientated mindset.
  • Demonstrates ability to multitask, make quick decisions and time management.
