My name is Lorissa R. Bañuelos and I am the new Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Director for Employment Resource Group, Inc.! My passion for DEI started at an early age, listening to my family members, several of which had active roles in DEI. They were champions in strategy around a particular event, a new hire or new initiative. I quickly knew it was my life’s vocation!
So what is our mission at ERG around Diversity? Well, we are planning many things:
- We want to assist all of you specifically with Diversity Hiring. To be good at this, you need the right network and curriculum training around integration into your organization and building a sense of belonging.
- We will train your teams on implicit biases to create a safe and caring workplace for everyone.
- We will assist in building a “community” for your new hires to feel welcome.
- We will create a case and understanding of how diverse hiring impacts a company’s growth with diverse thinking. In order for companies to stay relevant and ahead of the competition, it is vital for them to introduce diverse thinking and innovation.
The team here at ERG is very excited about the future of diversity hiring. We will have the hard conversations, help you face possible implicit biases and inner resistance to diversity. We will help you maintain a safe place to learn and be proactive in training and completing weekly exercises. And we will pay attention to workforce diversity and workplace demographics so we can hone in on disparities and formulate the right strategies. We will be sure to share more information with you in the coming weeks on our DEI strategy, as well as on our website HERE. Stay tuned!
“Diversity is being invited to the party. Inclusion is being asked to dance. Belonging is dancing like no one’s watching”.Verna Myers
I look forward to meeting you!
