Primary Responsibilities:

  • Business Development, Sales and Marketing – 40%
    • Develop and implement a solid strategic plan for sustained profitable revenue growth.
    • Manage a robust Strategic Project Qualification (SPQ) process that guides project pursuits.
    • Identify new markets, develop teams to pursue new markets and actively participate in the business development effort within new markets.
    • Measure, supervise and adjust the amount of work intake to meet growth projections.
    • Build and maintain personal executive working relationship with new and existing customers.
    • Build company presence in the community through networking, business growth and community outreach initiatives.
    • Develop, empower and lead a robust team that is energized and excited to grow the business and be part of the community.
    • Proactively identify customers’ concerns and address issues before they are realized and instill a culture of extraordinary customer service.
    • Participate in weekly companywide “Grow the Business” meetings.
  • People – 25%
    • Lead, coach, manage and mentor employees to achieve their goals, the operating group’s goals and the company’s goals.
    • Actively engage in the recruitment, retention, development and education of team.
    • Ensure all areas are accurately staffed and, where appropriate, reallocate resources, as needed. Develop long-term staffing plans including finding and developing talent for future growth.
    • Cultivate an environment where diversity, equity and inclusion are core beliefs and evident in day to day behaviors.
    • Establish a strong culture of accountability, at the individual level and at the team level.
    • Improve the company’s culture of Honesty, Fairness, Hard Work, Performance and the Love of Construction.
    • Demonstrate and coach around the following three virtues – Humble, Hungry (drives for vision, purpose and results) and Smart (demonstrate a high level of Emotional intelligence including self-awareness and self-regulation).
    • Complete all performance reviews as assigned and support and guide managers dealing with Performance Improvement Plans (PIP’s).
  • Construction Operations – 20%
    • Ensure that a foundation of solid operational performance is established from preconstruction through construction.
    • Support all projects through close collaboration and planning with the Operations leader.
    • Ensure timely, accurate and complete reporting on the operating conditions of projects both internally and with the customers.
    • Review and provide support of monthly Project Execution Assessments (PEA’s) with Operations leader.
    • Work with leadership to create strong and proactive site safety programs while meeting the needs of company, owners and projects.
    • Ensure positive relationships are maintained with key trade partners, sub-contractors and suppliers.
  • Business Operations – 15%
    • Through providing clear, inspiring and enduring vision, lead the development, communication and implementation of effective Operations strategies and goals to support the company’s vision and that align with corporate objectives. Establish benchmarks for measuring progress to inspire the team to achieve goals.
    • Collaborate with operating group leadership to develop and execute plans for operational infrastructure, processes and talent, designed around achieving strategies and goals.
    • Manage all operating group financials through oversight and management of the operating group profit and loss statements and financial plans.
    • Participate in financial reviews and lead preparation of quarterly goal reviews.
    • Champion change and innovation for constant improvement and challenge the status quo. Drive continuous improvement throughout the division by spotting waste and looking for opportunities to reduce that waste through process improvements.
    • Encourage the use of technology and education to reduce cost and improve our performance.
    • Collaborate with other Operating Groups to build the spirit of the company.

Necessary Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Design or related field.
  • Extensive experience (10+ Years) in Construction, Design, Scheduling, Cost Control, Business/Construction Operations and Management and Business Development.
  • Apply innovative management techniques to inspire and empower the project leadership teams to produce the desired results. Success in this role is accomplishing a successful work result through others.
