Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Source and purchase primary raw materials including wood, steel, and spool items.
- Oversee the purchasing of packaging supplies, and externally manufactured products, and support customer blanket orders.
- Generate, distribute, and reconcile purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
- Negotiate with and select freight carriers for inbound and outbound traffic; handle freight rate requests and scheduling of shipments.
- Audit freight charges, approve or dispute freight invoices, and address vendor billing disputes.
- Monitor and report on stock status, monthly usage, inventory levels, and establish re-order points.
- Coordinate interplant shipments and support the scheduling of metal production.
- Notify sales teams of early deliveries and handle contacts from the purchasing and transportation sectors.
- Update management with material pricing, and market information, and establish cost values for various items.
- Build and nurture relationships with primary and secondary supply partners, including occasional site visits and attending relevant trade shows.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of experience in purchasing.
- Proven experience with transportation, logistics, inventory control, and warehousing.
- Familiarity with production scheduling preferred.
- Proficient with ERP systems and digital tools.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Ability to supervise and collaborate with various teams.
